I remembered when I was a child; I had many bad experiences with dogs. Clamped down by a German shepherd once, pounced by 2 other dogs twice---all these happened in my cousin’s house. No idea why his dogs hated me. Anyway, I became ‘dog- phobic’ (er…is this what they call people with phobia of dogs? Haha…LOL). Throughout my school days, whenever I walked to tuition classes, I always make sure never to cross path with our canine friends or rather foes. I did a mental mind map of the spots I knew the angry dogs would be hanging out and used an alternative route instead. And when I spotted a dog 1km away, I would turn around slowly and use a different road to get pass. Hm…No wonder my tuition teacher wasn’t always too please when I turn up late for her classes occasionally! She never found out the reason though.
I used to think that I could never get over this childhood phobia of mine. And that I would be terribly afraid of dogs my whole life. Kinda embarrassing considering I was also born in the year of the hush puppy. That was when 2 years ago, I had to face my fears head on. My mom brought home a ‘mix breed street dog’ from her brother’s house. I objected to the idea, but my mom told me the only way to deal with my fears was to face it in the face!
And so, this is my cutie pie that she brought home 2 years ago when he was just a baby boy. She named him ‘sun sun’ (which meant ‘for things to go on smoothly’). Yeah, I certainly hope it does. Aww, isn’t he cute? And probably some of you might think how can I be afraid of such a little fella rite? Excuse me, but he was a very active dog and couldn’t stop running and pouncing around!
Sun Sun at 2 months old. Still looking cute. By now, I started to bond with him. Not so terrified of him anymore.
9 Weeks old and still curious as ever! Taught him a few tricks such as sit, grab a toy and come here!
By now, Sun sun is a BIG boy. And his bark brings terror into strangers’ eyes. But by now, I have gotten so used to him my phobia is gone! He is a very good guard dog and can also be a ‘sissy’ at times. (he is extremely afraid of thunderstorms).
I have also found pictures in the HOT magaizine issue 42 (11-24 Mac 2006) showing our canine buddies with their celebrity owners. And they have some interesting names for their dawggies!
The notorious party girl, Paris Hilton has 3 chihuahuas: Tinkerbell, Bambi, Tokyo Blue & Harajuku Bitch! Wow.
Britney Spears: BitBit, Lacy Loo & Lucky.
Adrien Brody:Ceelo Vicious
Naomi Watts with her jack Russell name chicken (hello…it is a dog, not a chic? Would you call your cat ‘doggie’? Guess not).
Nicole Richie’s Pomeranian bitch named Foxxy Cleopatra.
Eva Longoria’s Maltese named Jinxy.
So what do you call your doggy, doggie, dawg-gie pal now?
