Road Trip

Working as a travelling sales person has its perks and lowdowns. On one hand, you get really tired with the long hours of driving and travelling under sunny hot conditions or rainy cold sessions where you would rather curl up in bed. On the other hand, you end up in places you never been before---which can be a good experience depending on how you look at it, and how you make the most of it. Today i just reach home at 8pm after a long day work at Kuala Selangor- Sekinchan- Sabak Bernam. A journey which takes 2 hours to get there and another 2 to get back. The only way to enjoy it...is to seek out the pleasures while you are there.
First stop: Sabak Bernam.
The population here is majority Malays. It is a little town but with all the essentials...banks, post office, gas stations and police station.

The buildings here have a mix of both old and new structures.

Second stop: Sekinchan
It takes about 30 minutes to get from Sabak Bernam to Sekinchan. Sekinchan is a Chinese town with many speaking Hokkien and Mandrin dilects.

Along the way, there are many shacks set up to sell mangos...mangos seem like a popular fruit here, i guess it is famous here.

Pretty flowers lined in a row outside a florist in Sekinchan.
Sekinchan is also famous for its seafood at Bagan Sekinchan and at a very affordable price too. A claypot porridge with FRESH fish costs only RM4!
Third stop: Kuala Selangor.
Kuala Selangor is definately a more famous stop if compared to Sekinchan and Sabak Bernam. This humble fishing village is well known for its seafood that sends KL-ties flocking here on weekends.

The drive there seem REALLY long and gets me sleepy. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Kuala Selangor from Sekinchan but it is definately worth saving the stomach for.

RIVERVIEW and THE JETI, two famous seafood restaurants facing the seaview. Having lunch here is definately relaxing as the sea breeze blowing in your face can be truly refreshing.

This is my lunch. Kangkong belacan, fried squid and a cooling coconut for refreshment!

View of the sea from THE JETI seafood restaurant.
My hearty meal cost less than RM20!
After my satisfying lunch, i headed over to Taman Melawati Recreational Park at Kuala Selangor.

The lighthouse at Taman Melawati.

The wild species of monkeys that can be found here. A different species all together. With its long tail and dark fur.

Mother and baby. Notice how cute the baby look with its golden complexion?

Tourist come from afar to catch a glimpse of the wild species of monkey and the beautiful scenery here.

The view of the sea coast can also be seen from up here.

A beautiful evening sunset sky.

The lush green trees serve as a beautiful backdrop against the blue skies.

This would be my last trip here for work purpose. I would definately miss this place a lot. Fresh seafood, cool gentle breeze, fresh air, cheap good food, simple and relaxing lifestyle, friendly folks and many more. What is there not to like? Definately a contrast to the busy bustling lifestyle of the city. Will definately be back here for leisure.
