The Power of Belief

I have never been one whom believe wholeheartedly in my religion. Never one to submit to superstitions or Chinese cultures. But time and time again, when i'm at my lowest point in life...God has never failed to show me the miracle of his powers, that he is there to listen, if only i allowed myself to believe in Him. Everytime that i am jobless or looking for jobs and going for interview, i ask God for his blessings that everything will go well for me. Somehow, he always granted my wish...one way or another. When i was looking for a job 9 months ago, God listened and granted my wish. Which is how i ended up in SP. I was so grateful and thank Him for making it happened. When the news of the company cutting down headcount spread, and i was in the dark...not knowing i was the chosen one...my heart fell. To have to look for another job yet again. I was depressed once again. I didn't know what to do other than to put my faith in God once again.
Thanks to my caring friends Cheryl, Jun Soh, Kereen BFF, Rachel, Max for helping me to forward my resumes to top pharma companies, i felt a little sense of hope. As i was awaiting for news...i was anxious...the fear of being jobless once more strike me hard. Thanks ST for bringing me to ask Kuan Yin for her blessings that resulted in MSD calling me up for an interview in a mere 2 days. After the interview, i waited nervously for one week. Wondering if MSD would call me up anytime soon. That weekend, i paid a visit to the Sin Sze Ya temple which i had frequented many times to ask for Sze Ya's blessings which never seemed to failed me. In the next few days, MSD finally called me up to offer me a job! I was so happy. Thanks Lawrence for accompaniying me there.
The temple was first built by Yap Ah Loy in the 1864 in honour of the famous Kapitan Shin Kap of Sungei Ujong (present day Seremban) whom Yap Ah Loy had worked for before and during the Sungei Ujong conflict in 1859. During this conflict, Kapitan Shin’s hurriedly assembled force was defeated and Kapitan Shin himself was beheaded after being captured by the opposing Malay forces. His death was extraordinary in that the blood that gushed out after his head was chopped off was white and not red. In Malay belief, the spilling of white blood by a dying person indicates that the person is a saint. When the Malays saw this, they begged for forgiveness and allowed the Chinese to retrieve his body for burial. As a result of Kapitan Shin’s miraculous death, the local Chinese began to worship him as a deity and he became the guardian deity for Chinese miners in Malaya.

This temple never seize to attract visitors--- outstation folks and foreigners alike. Until today, devotees still come here to pray for blessings and foreigners put this temple under a 'must see' list for its marvelous architecture, detailed inscriptions and fine wood works.

A beeline of devotees can be seen here on weekends to ask for blessings, health and wealth.
